FREE OPTOMAP Retinal Exam for Children & Young Adults

We all want the best for our children, and good vision is essential for their physical and educational development. Most children and young people have healthy eyes, but a few are born with or develop eye disorders which may not be obvious.

Early detection is vital!

Early detection means that treatment can be given to protect your child’s sight and overall well-being.  Patients of ALL AGES need the internal health of their eyes thoroughly evaluated every year as part of their comprehensive eye examination.  The best way for us to perform this health evaluation is the optomap retinal examination.  The optomap captures over 80% of the retina in one image compared to conventional examination methods which typically show up to 15% in one view.  We recommend the optomap for every patient, every year.

The advanced new method of checking the health of your eye

We are committed to the highest standard of eye care: for this reason, we will include an optomap retinal examination as a part of our services for children and young adults at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE.  We are pleased to assist in making top-quality eye health care affordable in the family budget.

One of the great advantages of the Optomap scan is how easy it is to perform.  This exam was developed by Scottish engineer Douglas Anderson whose five-year-old son Leif lost the sight in one eye due to an undetected retinal detachment. Although Leif was having regular eye exams, conventional tests were uncomfortable, especially for a small child, which made it difficult for the doctor to conduct a thorough examination of the retina.  Distressed by the diagnostic methods available, Leif’s father designed the optomap® Retinal Exam to make retinal examinations easier for both the patient and the doctor.

Ages 21 and under.  Usual fee will apply when covered under patient’s insurance plan.
